Underwood celebrates "READ ACROSS AMERICA" week!!
Here are some glimpses of our fun week!
Thanks to all of our guest readers!! Also, a special thanks to Mr. Moore for his special appearance.
As part of "Read Across America Week, " 3rd and 4th grade PACE students performed a skit called "The Day the Crayons Quit."
Mixed Up Monday
"I like nonsense; it wakes up the brain cells."
" The more you read the more you will know the more you know the more places you will go."
Who do you want to be, Wednesday?
"Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind"
"Today you are you that is truer than true, there is no one alive who is youer than you!"
"Animal Guy" visits Underwood
The Underwood students love having Bob Tarter visit each year. This year, he brought exotic animals from the Rain Forest. Amanda Davis, kindergarten teacher, actually kissed the frog(see picture below). The kids loved it. Among these were a talking parrot, a snake, a gigantic frog, and a white nosed Coati. He said his favorite part of his job is aggravating the teachers with his animals. You can click the link below to visit his website and learn more about Mr. Tarter and his animals.
Underwood would like to thank the Rogers Middle School Band for coming to play Christmas songs for us. We enjoyed singing along.
A Huge Congrats to our 5th Grade Chess Winner!!
He will represent Underwood at the Renaissance Faire Chess Playoff on Saturday, October 24th.
We are proud of all of the 5th graders who participated.
Pre-K Students on "Nursery Rhyme Day"
Mrs. Hines's 4 year old pre-k students dressed up as nursery characters. There were several different costumes, from Humpty Dumpty sitting on a wall to Mary had a little lamb. All of the teachers and students enjoyed this.
Please support our school through the Publix Partners Program. Present a Publix Partners card from Underwood to your cashier whenever you make a purchase at Publix. (Be sure to show the card before the sale is totaled.) At the end of each quarter, Publix awards our school with $250 for every $37,500 spent.
